About
“Never did my eyes rest on a more lovely or beautiful scene. The setting sun that cast a gorgeous flood of light upon this exquisite panorama, bringing out some of the lofty islands in strong relief. We beheld a landscape, savage and grand in its primeval beauty.”
Author; Susanna Moodie; Roughing it in the Bush, A trip to Stony (published 1852, McClelland & Stewart)
Just as Ms Moodie described her first view of the majestic Ston(e)y lake almost 175 years ago in the summer of 1835, Stoney still holds a magical wonder and mystery of years gone by. A natural inspiration to visitors and the foundation that Viamede was built on over 125 years ago.
Viamede offers a plethora of activities, from kayaking and Sea-Dooing in the summer to snowshoeing and pond hockey in the winter with our Stoney Lake cottages for rent.
Our three restaurants, The Boathouse Pub, The Dining Room, & The Inn at Mount Julian each offer a distinct style with the same commitment to quality. Our fledgling farm provides unique menu items for all three, and will continue to grow.
Our Marina is the launching point for our guests to explore Stoney Lake, as well as offering nightly or seasonal mooring to boats. Boaters have full use of our facilities as well as one of the nicest views on the Trent Severn.
For weddings, conferences, or other special events, we have a full events team to help you arrange anything you may need.
With all of this and more here at Viamede, the only thing you have to worry about is making it back in time for dinner.
