On New Year's Eve five years ago
A man and woman didn't know
That at a friend's house they would meet
And almost instantly they could feel the heat
The girl was from the big city
The country boy said that was a pity
For neither could live where each had said
And so that topic was laid to bed
But as the night's end was near
Soon began the magic of a new year
Before they knew it the long drive began
Peterborough to Mississauga and back again
Weekend after weekend until August came
Then the guy decided that being apart was a shame
So on one knee he gave her a ring
By December the wedding bells went ding
And now after five years, two kids have been had
The couple have never been so glad
The husband works so hard every day
At work and at home with little time to play
So this Viamede getaway contest
Would be a surprise that's the best
To give to my husband who means the world to me
I love him now to eternity.
